DRESDA TRITON

RECENT DRESDA TRITON BUILD

This is a Triton we built recently to a customer's specification. The original Dresda Triton engine plates position the Pre Unit 750cc and gearbox perfectly in the Manx frame.  A Dresda box-section swing arm on Hagon rear shocks improves already superlative handling and allows a wider rear rim and tyre.  A fibreglass Manx seat with red piping and short mudguards complete the sporting looks, while upswept Gold Star silencers suspended on polished alloy hangers give the Triton its distinctive 'twitter' sound. It's loud!

The short-circuit tank is in fibreglass, which is emblazoned with the owner's initials and over-lacquered and proofed against the ethanol in modern fuel. We also offer aluminium tanks in a variety of styles. Rubber mounted against vibration it is secured with a quick release retaining strap in aluminium and a Monza-style filler cap. An alloy top yoke, swan-neck clip-ons and Amal-type aluminium levers ensure comfort with a classic cafe racer look.

The pre-unit Triumph engine has been completely rebuilt from the sludge-trap up and incorporates many of the Dresda tuning modifications. It has had a 750 big bore conversion, and the refurbished nine stud head head has been worked on with lightened valves and springs in Colisbro guides. The timing gear has been fettled and a breather added to the cover. The gearbox has been thoroughly refurbished with all new bearings and parts where necessary and all the gears matched and paired for clean and easy changes. On the drive side, it has been given a belt drive conversion that runs dry. New concentric type carbs and filters ensure easy starting and smooth running, and the stainless downpipes have been handmade for a neat fit well tucked in to give plenty of ground clearance allowing increased lean angles on modern rubber. One of the things that sets a Dresda Triton apart is the positioning of the engine and gearbox in the frame, ensuring optimal weight distribution and balance, informed by many years of successful racing.

A Norton twin-leading shoe front brake in full width front hub matches the Norton rear wheel and both are fitted with upgraded linings, making later braking possible and giving consistent feel in wet or dry without fade.  The Dresda Roadholder fork modification makes a significant improvement to lateral stability and handling and prevents the danger of pinch-bolt failure.

This customer is delighted with his unique Triton.

We'd be happy to build you a Dresda to your personal specification.
